Australian Wines
The Wine industry in Australia is booming due to its warm client. It is the fourht largest exporter in the world, and exports over 400 million litres a year to wine producing-countries such as France, Italy and Spain.
Most of the vineyards are in the South as it is a bit cooler than other parts of Australia.
The major grapes varieties consist of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Riesling.
Australian White Wines
Wick's Estate Reisling Adelaide Hills 2008 75cl
Tim Knappstei is the winemaker who made the Wick's Estate Reisling at his family run winery. The wine is flavourful with fruity elements, but is still crisp and clean which makes for the perfect class of white wine.
The Adelaide Hills is a cool climate zone for growing grapes which is particularly suited to the star of the show with this wine, Reisling. The great quality Reisling shows great fruit with plenty of flavour, complete with a clean and dry finish.
Australian Red Wines
Claymore 'Nirvana' Reserve Shiraz Clare Valley 2006 75cl
This powerful 100% Shiraz is full of dark chocolate and black fruit flavours with vanilla on the very long finish. A well balanced wine with good body added from 24 months in French oaks.
