Let the Training Begin For the Rugby World Cup 2015
There’s only 100 days to go until the first game and there is a wide variety of events going on across the UK, during the countdown to the Rugby World Cup 2015. The Six Nations finished back in March this year and there were some eventful and unpredictable games, but we expect an even bigger event come September.
There's so many other ways we can be enjoying the countdown to the big day, especially with the fantatsic sunny weather that is lingering each day. There's some fanastic wine merchants around selling a variety of wines from natural and organic wine, to the popular Chocolate Block and Veneto wine.
The initial training squad has now been name, with Wales announcing their 47-man World Cup training party. Assistant coaches Rob Howley and Robin McBryde selected a number of players to mark their spot ready for September. There are 25 Forwards including Rob Evans, Samson Lee, Bradley Davies and Dominic Day. This is followed by 22 Backs such as Rhys Webb, Lloyd Williams, Jack Dixon and Leigh Halfpenny.
Preparations for the highly anticipated global event commence on June 15th 2015 for Wales, as the majority of their squad will meet at their Vale Resort HQ. For other team members whose seasons stretched on slightly longer than expected, additional time has been provided for them to recharge.
All players will be going through the most rigorous preparation in three different countries outside of Wales. The Vale will be an opportunity to prepare the players for the stringent regimes ahead of them when they finally touch down in Switzerland and Qatar the following month.
The Itinerary:
July 1st – 15th in Fiesch, Switzerland – The emphasis of this trip will be on both conditioning and skills, with 6am wake-up calls on the horizon for all-day training sessions.
July 20th – 29th in Doha, Qatar – Some of the training involved during their team’s time in Qatar, will be completed in the Aspire Dome. This is a climate-controlled arena housing a full-sized pitch.
August 3rd – 8th in Ireland – This is the test week where the team will have to do it all again, following the 23-16 Six Nations win against Joe Schmidt’s boys.
August 16th – 23rd in Spala, Poland – During their time in Poland, the plays will step into cryotheraphy chambers, which allow them to train three times a day. They will be subjected to temperatures as low as -160c for a three minute session.
August 24th – 29th in Ireland – Another test week will commence, which will be the final chance for players to show their ability before Gatland names is final group of 31 for the tournament.
August 31st – Today is the day that the final team is announced.
August 31st – September 5th in Italy – Yet again, another test week, but the players won’t have long left until the first game is here.
