Five Weeks to Go: Rugby World Cup 2015 is Heating Up
Preparations are underway for the Rugby World Cup 2015 as only five weeks remain until the first game kicks-off at Twickenham Stadium. The last couple months have been a whirlwind of events dedicated to keeping rugby enthusiasts on their toes and giving you something to look forward to each month.
With the Trophy Tour slowly coming to an end after travelling worldwide for all to admire, we now eagerly await for the day to come where the big event officially commences. There’s not long to go until we can kit ourselves out in all our gear, get the novelty souvenirs out and enjoy a glass of our favourite natural wine, Grande Provence wine or even try some new Australian white wines. After all, it is a special occasion!
During the countdown to the Rugby World Cup lots has happened, but what has been most noteworthy so far this year?
The past year has seen a robust programme of testing, preparation and observations at various tournament venues across the UK and Wales. This next month will see final preparations ahead of the event including testing transport, spectator experience and accreditation processes to ensure all attendees get the best possible experience for a memorable event.
Testing and observation is set to take place at the following venues, with specific fixtures:
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
5th September – Wales v Italy at 17:00
Twickenham Stadium, London
15th August – England v France at 20:00
5th September – England v Ireland at 14:30
The Stadium, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
29th August – Barbarians v Samoa at 15:00
Kingsholm Stadium, Gloucester
5th September – Georgia v Japan at 16:45
Sandy Park, Exeter
Exeter Chief’s friendliness – 5Th and 19th September
Ready for the first game between England & Fiji, Twickenham Stadium is currently undergoing some development work to enhance spectator’s experience. Sponsor activation can be enjoyed on the South Stand Piazza, and the West Fan Village will be getting a new layout. The venue’s security perimeter is also expected to be extended to give the stadium a larger footprint.
There’s so much to look forward to, so be sure to keep coming back to see what else has been going on in the world of rugby.
